They’re off again! Smith boys plan third big adventure in aid of the ‘Hamilton Project’
In August 2007, Ethan Smith (13) and Elliott Smith (12) from Lord Williams School, Thame and their brother Rohan Smith (7), of St Andrew’s Primary School Chinnor, will be attempting another huge challenge, in aid of ‘The Hamilton Project’ launched by not-for-profit ‘Communities in Business’ (CiB) team, based in Little Milton, Oxfordshire. The boys’ route will be along a coastal path in Dorset – a distance of well over 100km over some pretty tough terrain. The challenge will be made even more arduous by the fact that the brothers will be carrying all of their food, water and camping gear themselves. The boys will be accompanied on foot by an adult who will provide medical cover and be available in case of emergency. Youngest brother Rohan will join his brothers for the final 20km of the challenge, also carrying all of his own gear. Ethan commented “We want to raise lots of money for The Hamilton Project so that Dr Marr and her friends can help as many people as possible.” But the boys are in no doubt about the challenge that they face. “It’s going to be tough”, says Elliott Smith, “but we’ve been training hard. We are also very grateful for the equipment supplied by the Commandos and we won’t let them down.”

Commenting on the challenge, Dr Tracey Marr, Director of CiB, said, “I’m overwhelmed that such young boys should take on this expedition in support of our work at CiB. An expedition over 100km is a challenge at any age but it will be a wonderful achievement given that they are so young.” Read more about |
